kokohana, 25 String Koto group  
“kokohana” is a music group of 2 instruments of 25 String Koto, Japanese harp. The member is Nanae & Migiwa, graduated from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. They started Koto in their childhood and won many prizes of national Koto contests. 25 String Koto is newly developed from Japanese traditional 13 String Koto. These instruments covers wide range of music and have a potential of various expression. “kokohana” produces their original tunes expressing their pure mind. They released 1st CD “Flowers bloom in here” , 2nd CD “Butterfly Knot” and 3rd CD ”Let’s hold hands together”, which are already very popular . Their music is used for the BGM of many TV programs and they often appears TV & radio programs. Their beautiful sounds attract a wide audience transcending differences in age.

Nanae leaned the Koto and three string “sangen” from Kumashiro Misuzu, Saito Michihide and Ando Masaki. She won the Asahi Shimbun Prize in the section for young players at junior high school at the 36th Japan Koto Music Contest, sponsored by Japan Koto Music Association, and the Osaka Mayo Prize in the general section at the 38th Japan Koto Music Contest, sponsored by the same. She graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 2004.   Migiwa learned the Koto and three string “sangen” from her mother, Hashimoto Harumi. She won the first prize and the Makimoto Prize at the elementary school player section of the Japan Koto Music contest for elementary and junior high school students in 1991 and the first prize at the 6th High School Student International Art Contest in 1999. She graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music in 2004.
